                           Purchase of Own Securities

Man Group plc announces that on 9 October 2006 it purchased for cancellation
235,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 441.97 pence per ordinary share.

Since the start of the financial year on 1 April 2006, Man has repurchased
22,090,000 ordinary shares at a total cost of £89.0 million, giving an average
repurchase cost of 402.89 pence per ordinary share.
