                           Purchase of Own Securities


Man Group plc announces that on 2 October 2006 it purchased for cancellation
130,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 448.09 pence per ordinary share.


Since the start of the financial year on 1 April 2006, Man has repurchased
20,930,000 ordinary shares at a total cost of £83.9 million, giving an average
repurchase cost of 400.83 pence per ordinary share.
