                               CPL RESOURCES PLC

At the Annual General Meeting of CPL Resources plc, today, the chairman
announced the retirement from the board of Mr Peter Malone. Mr Malone has been a
Director of the company since its floatation in June 1999 and retires in
accordance with the Groups policy for rotation of Non-Executive Directors. The
Chairman, John Hennessy, expressed deep gratitude for Mr Malone's valuable
contribution to the Group and said that CPL had benefited greatly from his
knowledge, experience and expertise.
