Appointment of Executive Chairman

For immediate release 15 November 2000 Skillsgroup announces Appointment of Executive Chairman Skillsgroup plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Keith Burgess as Executive Chairman from 15 November 2000. As previously announced, the current Chairman David Southworth is due to step down from the Board at the end of November. Burgess, 54, joins Skillsgroup from a 30-year career with Andersen Consulting where he played a major role in developing and executing the strategies that have driven the success of that organisation. He led the UK practice (1989-1994); was responsible for maintaining the competencies and knowledge of the worldwide workforce (1994 to 1997); and led the outsourcing business worldwide (1997 to 1999). He left Andersen Consulting at the end of August 2000. He is a former president of the Management Consultants Association and a former Master and founding member of the Guild of Management Consultants. With effect from the same date Robert Hough will become non-executive Deputy Chairman. Robert joined the board of Skillsgroup in June of this year and is currently Executive Deputy Chairman of Peel Holdings p.l.c. as well as chairman or deputy chairman of a number of other significant businesses. Commenting on his own appointment, Burgess said 'I am delighted to be taking over the leadership of Skillsgroup at this time. The company has before it a range of excellent market opportunities that can be successfully exploited over the coming years. I am excited about providing the leadership necessary.'
