Thrive Renewables launches five-year bond offer to help fund the development and construction of two new wind farms

Bond overview:

·       Thrive Renewables has launched a £10 million bond offer (£5 million from retail crowdfunding, with a further £5 million from institutional investors)

 via Triodos Bank Crowdfunding platform.

·       The capital raised will contribute to the development and construction of two new onshore wind farms in Wales and Scotland, including the company’s largest project to date at 57MW, plus funding to enable communities to build and own their own local projects.  

·       This is Thrive Renewables’ first bond offer since 2016. The company raised £13 million through two bond offers that year which were used to build new clean energy projects that are still generating successfully. Both bond issues were repaid in full as planned in 2021 and 2024.

Key terms:

o   Five years with 5.5% gross interest, paid annually in arrears. Payment of interest and repayment of capital are not guaranteed.

o   £25 minimum investment

o   The investment can be held in a Triodos Innovative Finance ISA (IFISA), that allows interest to be received tax-free. The Innovative Finance ISA is subject to eligibility criteria and tax treatment depends on individual circumstances. ISA eligibility does not guarantee returns or protect consumers from losing their money.

o   Closing date: 16 April 2026, unless fully subscribed earlier or the offer is extended

Company information:

·       The company has made significant progress with its aim to double its generation capacity by 2028, having secured the development rights that will take its total capacity from 91.5 to 170.1 MW by 2027. 

·       Company continues to innovate in the way it raises and deploys capital:

o   A co-investment partnership with TopCashback Sustainability, allowing Thrive to deploy an additional £40 million of capital by match funding what it invests.

o   A new joint venture with social impact investor, Better Society Capital, bringing together £40 million for community-owned wind and solar projects across the UK. Fair Play Clean Energy, Thrive’s joint venture with TopCashback Sustainability, will provide £20 million of the investment, with Better Society Capital providing matched funding. The first project to be funded – a 2.5MW community turbine in Kilbirnie – will soon be operational.

·       2025 half year results (unaudited) include:

o   Revenue of £9.4 million  

o   Operating profit of £3.9 million

·       Final dividend of 12p per share for 2024 was paid in July 2025.

·       In 2025, Thrive’s operational portfolio of 24 wind, solar and hydro projects generated over 134,000 MWh of clean electricity – enough to power 40,000 homes, and delivered emissions reductions equivalent to 64,343 tCO₂e.
