Resignation of Director
Coventry Building Society announces that Phil Vaughan, Chief Operating Officer, has given notice of his intention to take up an opportunity outside the building society sector. Phil will resign from the board immediately following the Society's Annual General Meeting on 28 April 2010 but will otherwise continue in his role to ensure an orderly handover which is expected to take place before the end of June.
The Society also announces the appointment of Peter Elcock to the senior executive team as Chief Risk Officer. In this newly created role, Peter will be responsible for the Society's credit risk, treasury and liquidity risk, operational risk and compliance functions. He will report to David Stewart, Chief Executive.
Peter Elcock has over 25 years experience working in financial services. He gained much of this experience at Barclays, where he held a number of senior managements positions including Head of Corporate Risk Strategy, Barclays Bank PLC and Chief Operating Officer, Barclays SME Bank.
David Stewart, Chief Executive, commented " I would like to thank Phil for his contribution to Coventry's strong performance in recent years. We wish him every success in his new role.
At the same time, I am delighted to welcome Peter Elcock to Coventry Building Society. Peter brings with him a wealth of experience and I look forward to working closely with him in the future."
