'The Tenderness of Wolves' Voted as The Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year

Quercus Publishing Plc, the Plus-quoted publishing company, is delighted to announce that Stef
Penny's novel, 'The Tenderness of Wolves', has won The Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the
Year Award 2008.

The Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival is the largest and most successful crime
writing festival in the UK. Open to British crime novels published in paperback in 2007, the 20
strong longlist was whittled down as thousands of votes were cast by Waterstones in-store and
online customers. The final 12 then went to a panel vote which also included a vote from local
readers groups.

'The Tenderness of Wolves', Stef Penney's debut novel, has already won the Costa Book of the Year
Award 2006 and the Costa First Novel Award 2006. The book has sold over 315,000 copies in the UK.
The Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award has successfully established itself as one of the most
prestigious awards in the international crime writing calendar. It is currently the only literary
prize of its kind to be voted for by the general public.

The Directors of Quercus Publishing Plc accept responsibility for this announcement.
