Umbro plc ('Umbro')
Annual General Meeting Trading Update
At the Umbro Annual General Meeting to be held at 11am this morning, Nigel
Doughty, Chairman, will issue the following update on trading:
'The brand continues to make good progress internationally with sales in China,
USA and Latin America significantly ahead of last year.
Branded sales in the UK are in line with expectations and for the full year are
expected to be ahead of 2006.
As previously indicated, licensed sales for the year will be below the levels
achieved in 2006 due to the lack of a major tournament. Licensed sales to date
are in line with expectations in advance of the important summer trading period
and England's Euro 2008 qualification fixtures.
Earlier this month, consistent with our strategy of investing in priority
markets, we announced a 49% equity investment in our largest licensee Noel
Soccer (France) and extended our sponsorship agreement with Olympique Lyonnais
Overall, the Board are comfortable with the group's performance to date and
considers that results for the full year will be in line with expectations.'
The interim results will be announced on 6th September.
