14 June 2006: embargoed for immediate release

                                     Xansa

Office for National Statistics extends IT transformation partnership

Helping improve the timeliness and efficiency of statistics

Xansa, the outsourcing and technology company, is pleased to announce that the
Office for National Statistics (ONS) has extended Xansa's contract as their
strategic IT transformation partner to help deliver the modernisation of
statistical systems in ONS. This initial two year extension has a minimum
commitment of £6 million and includes an option to extend for a further year.
The scope of the contract includes the potential to expand into supporting the
ONS in modernisation of the General Register Office (GRO).

Xansa became the strategic partner of the ONS in April 2004 and has been
supporting them in their strategic Modernisation Programme ever since. The
partnership with Xansa has assisted the ONS in developing software for the
modernisation of their statistical processes. ONS has also used established
skills within Xansa to assist them in transforming their IT skills, methods and
processes, enabling them to progress with reductions to their cost base and
improvements to their operational performance.

Working closely in joint delivery teams, the ONS and Xansa have adopted key
elements of Xansa's proven methodology, Method abc, to create the ONS' own
methods framework. Through our IT and process expertise Xansa is providing the
ONS with resources to meet current challenges and we are working together to put
in place the framework and capacity to enable them to meet the challenges of the
future.

Commenting on the announcement, Dayantha Joshua, Chief Information Officer, ONS,
said:

"Xansa's flexibility and pragmatism are key to the relationship established over
the last two years. This relationship is helping us deal with the multifaceted
challenges of modernisation."

Commenting on the announcement, Alistair Cox, Chief Executive Xansa, said:

"When the ONS selected Xansa they were looking for a partner to help them drive
forward key areas of their modernisation programme. This extension is a great
testament to the success of the partnership and is further evidence of our
ability to support large transformation programmes and deliver tangible benefits
to our clients."
