Universal Salvage

Directorate Change

Universal Salvage PLC
29 April 2005

                             Universal Salvage plc
                      ('Universal Salvage' or the 'Group')

                                 Announces that

Nigel Sandy will be stepping down as Chief Executive

The Board of Universal Salvage plc announces that Nigel Sandy will be stepping
down as Chief Executive and as a Director at the end of April 2005 to pursue
other interests.

Nigel Sandy joined Universal Salvage in January 2004 and became Chief Executive
on 1 March 2004. Following a full commercial, strategic and financial review of
the business, Nigel led discussions with the Royal Bank of Scotland to support
the revised business plan for the Group and subsequently oversaw a substantial
reduction in the cost base.

The priority for the business has, over the last year, centred on reducing costs
and realising property assets but now its future is focused on the development
of new business opportunities within the auto-salvage and disposal market. In
order to execute this strategy, on 1 March 2005, Avril Palmer-Baunack was
appointed Managing Director of Universal Salvage. Avril has considerable
knowledge of the motor industry, including the specialist area of vehicle
salvage, having worked in a number of senior positions within the industry over
the last 18 years.

In a trading update on 7 March, Universal announced that the pre-tax loss for
the year ended 30 April 2005 was expected to be at the lower end of the range of
market expectations. Today, the Board is pleased to report that it now expects
the Group to deliver results marginally ahead of the lower end of that range.

Alexander Foster, Chairman, said:

'We are very grateful to Nigel Sandy for leading Universal Salvage during its
restructuring. He has achieved notable success and he goes with our good wishes
and thanks. We reported encouraging progress in our trading update on 7 March
2005 and are pleased to report that this progress has continued so that we now
expect the Group to deliver results marginally ahead of the lower end of the
range of market expectations.'
