                     Appointment of non-executive director

The board of Taylor Nelson Sofres plc (TNS), a world leader in market
information, announces the appointment of Alice Perkins as an independent
non-executive director, with immediate effect.

Alice Perkins CB, aged 55, is Director General of the Corporate Development
Group in the Cabinet Office. In this role, which she has held since 2001, she
is responsible for civil service-wide HR issues, reporting directly to the
Cabinet Secretary. Prior to that, she held a number of senior Civil Service
positions, including Head of Defence and Material Group in HM Treasury and
Director of Corporate Management at the Department of Health. She joined the
Civil Service after graduating from St Anne's College, Oxford. She was a
non-executive director of The Littlewoods Organisation plc for four years until
2001, where she was a member of the remuneration and community affairs
committees.

Commenting on the appointment, Tony Cowling, Chairman of TNS, said, "We are
delighted to welcome Alice to the board. Her substantial experience of
organisational change and people issues will be of great value to TNS, at a time
when we have just completed the market information industry's largest
integration. Following our recent win of the Standard Eurobarometer contract
for the European Commission, our Polling & Social sector is increasingly working
with governments and international organisations around the world. Alice's
understanding of how governments work will be very beneficial to us in this
important area for the group."

the Listing Rules.
