                        Result of EGM and change of name

The Board of City Centre is pleased to announce that all resolutions, relating
to the approval of the Offer for ASK Central, the Placing and the change of
name, were duly passed at the EGM of the Company held earlier today. City Centre
Restaurants Shareholders either attending in person or voting by proxy held more
than 54 per cent. of the Company's ordinary issued share capital. All
resolutions were passed by the requisite majority. Of proxies received, over 99
per cent. of votes were in favour of the resolutions.

Following the change of name from City Centre Restaurants plc to The Restaurant
Group plc, it is expected that, with effect from 16 January 2004, the London
Stock Exchange mnemonic of the Company will change from CTC to RTN. The Offer as
set out in the Offer Document dated 22 December 2003 remains unaffected and the
change of name does not affect the Form of Acceptance under the Offer.

The words and expressions defined in the Offer Document dated 22 December 2003
shall apply for the purpose of this announcement.
