                     Appointment of non-executive director

The board of Taylor Nelson Sofres plc (TNS), a world leader in market
information, announces the appointment of Sharon Studer as an independent
non-executive director, with immediate effect.

Sharon, aged 52, has held senior positions in technology and service companies
in the UK and the US.  She was a partner in KPMG's consulting practice, where
she led a unit providing strategy and operational advice to technology
companies.  Most recently, she drove the initiative to web-enable sales and
marketing for 3Com, a worldwide networking company.  Prior to this, she managed
3Com's Small Office Networking business.  Previous positions include Vice
President, New Ventures, for Knight Ridder, Vice President, McDonald Glencross,
a UK venture capital firm, and Vice President, Worldwide Marketing, for Control
Data's computer business.

Sharon has a doctorate in Educational Psychology specialising in statistics and
measurement.  Before moving into industry, she did public policy work for the
Urban Institute, a Washington DC based think tank.  She currently sits on the
audit committee for Oxford University and on the Advisory Council for University
of London Queen Mary College public policy group.

Commenting on the appointment, Tony Cowling, Chairman of TNS, said, "We are
delighted to welcome Sharon to the board.  Following our recent acquisition of
NFO WorldGroup, we have extended our activities in the US and will gain from her
experience in US industry and public affairs.  Use of technology is an important
factor in the market information industry and her specialisation in this area,

About Sharon Studer

Ms Studer, age 52, attained a B.S. Psychology (Hons) and a Ph.D Educational
Psychology (Hons) from the University of Minnesota.  After completing her
doctorate, she joined the Urban Institute, working on a variety of US government
public policy issues.  From 1981 to 1989 she held a number of positions at
Control Data Corporation before becoming a Partner in the Consulting arm of
KPMG.  She has since been Vice President at Knight Ridder from 1994 to 1996, and
3Com Corporation from 1996 to 2000.  Born in the US, she now lives in the UK.
