THE WIRELESS GROUP AWARDED DIGITAL RADIO LICENCE FOR BRADFORD & HUDDERSFIELD

The Wireless Group plc ('TWG') announces that The Radio Authority has today
awarded it the local digital radio multiplex licence for the Bradford &
Huddersfield area.

The award creates a valuable new radio asset for TWG and marks the first time
that TWG has applied for a licence through a wholly-owned vehicle, rather than
as a member of a consortium. The multiplex will broadcast eight services in CD
sound quality to a population of over 800,000 adults. Four of the services are
currently available on FM or AM in the area. These include TWG's own stations,
The Pulse and Yorkshire's BIG AM, as well as Sunrise FM and BBC Radio Leeds.
The other four stations will be new to the area, providing listeners with a
greater variety and choice of stations to listen to. The services will
commence broadcasting in digital in September 2002.
