WARTHOG ANNOUNCES SCOTT ADAMS 'PIRATE ADVENTURE' CHOSEN AS BLOCKBUSTER TO BE
LARGEST UK MOBILE PORTAL
Warthog's first WAP game to be published, confirms Group's mobile strategy
Warthog plc ('Warthog' or 'the Group'), the interactive entertainment software
group, announced today that the mobile Internet game 'Pirate Adventure' has
been chosen as one of a range of blockbuster titles to be rolled out through
an agreement with Digital Bridges and Genie. This will be Warthog's first WAP
game to be published.
The deal between Genie, the mobile Internet business of mm02, (formerly BT
Wireless), and Digital Bridges, one of the leading providers of mobile gaming
and entertainment services will see Genie roll out a raft of premium
blockbuster mobile Internet games, which includes Warthog's 'Pirate
Adventure', from Scott Adams, the pioneer of PC adventure gaming. It is
expected that the games will launch in the UK in November, followed by the
Netherlands and subsequently in other Genie markets.
In January 2001, Warthog acquired the prestigious Scott Adams' titles and in
March announced a strategic agreement with Digital Bridges to develop these
mobile games. Warthog will receive revenues from upfront design fees and the
royalties from charges made to operators by Digital Bridges.
Peter Macfarlane, Head of Mobile Gaming at Warthog commented:
'This is a great success for Warthog and an endorsement to our business
strategy of extending our portfolio into the new media environment. We are
delighted that 'Pirate Adventure' has been chosen as one of the premium games
to be launched by Genie, through our agreement with Digital Bridges.'
