F.I.GROUP PLC, the business technology services supplier, announces that
Philip Cook has joined as Group General Counsel and Company Secretary,
effective 1 January 2001.

Mr Cook joins FI from British American Tobacco plc where, since May 1999, he
was Company Secretary with responsibility for the overall corporate governance
of the Group and compliance with the requirements of the Stock Exchange/FSA
and Combined Code

Having joined BAT Industries in 1995, Mr Cook moved within the BAT Group in
1996 to become Corporate Counsel at British American Tobacco Holdings where
his remit included providing legal advice on IT procurement and outsourcing
issues, and on global purchasing agreements. In 1997 he was appointed Company
Secretary of British American Tobacco Holdings, acting as Secretary to the
Group's Management Board, and was involved with the de-merger of BAT
Industries plc in 1998 and the merger of British American Tobacco plc and
Rothman's in 1999.

Philip's earlier career included spending almost nine years with City based
solicitors Herbert Smith where he acted on a wide range of corporate issues
including acquisitions and disposals, management buy-outs and joint ventures,
and general corporate law matters.

Philip Cook (39), married with three children, attended King Edwards School,
Bath before gaining an Honours Degree in Law at Exeter University and
qualifying as a Solicitor in 1986.

Commenting on the appointment, Hilary Cropper, Executive Chairman of F.I.GROUP
