OgilvyOne Acquires Cybersoft Singapore

WPP Group PLC 16 November 1999 WPP GROUP PLC ('WPP') OGILVYONE ACQUIRES CYBERSOFT SINGAPORE WPP announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary, OgilvyOne Worldwide, the worldwide direct and interactive marketing network, has acquired 60 per cent of Cybersoft Pte Ltd, a full service interactive agency in Singapore. Founded in 1995, with offices in Singapore and Malaysia, Cybersoft's staff in Singapore will relocate to OgilvyOne and work on accounts including IBM, Unilever, Yahoo!, and several government ministries. Cybersoft reported revenues of S$1,151,883 for the year ended 31 December 1998. Miles Young, chairman of Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific, commented, 'Globally we have a lead in interactive. We're already the biggest player of on-line media by a factor of 2:1. Were offering something the internet boutiques do not - a service which integrates in a sophisticated way all parts of the communications mix. Here in Asia, though the medium and technology have had a slower start than in the US, we believe interactive is poised for serious take-off in certain markets.' The acquisition, following on from that of an interest in Sydney-based Webcom earlier this year, reinforces the agency's presence as the most extensive interactive network in the Asia Pacific region. Other interactive 'hubs' for Ogilvy in the region are Beijing, Tokyo, Bangalore and Hong Kong. Contact: Feona McEwan, WPP London 44-20 7408 2204 www.wpp.com www.ogilvyone.com
