Retiral of Mr R D D Bertram as a director on 17th May 2000

Mr R D D Bertram retired as a director of The Weir Group PLC on 17th May 2000,
following the company's Annual General Meeting.

Mr Bertram's intention to retire at the conclusion of the meeting was intimated
in our report and accounts for the 52 weeks ended 31st December 1999, which was
posted to shareholders (and to the Exchange) during April.
