STV has been awarded the licences to deliver local TV services to Aberdeen, Ayr and Dundee.

These three new services will be delivered in partnership with Robert Gordon University and North East Scotland College in Aberdeen, the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) in Ayr, and Abertay University and Dundee and Angus College in Dundee. Working in partnership with the further education colleges and universities will provide media students with the opportunity to learn and train in a live TV environment.

STV's licences for Aberdeen, Ayr and Dundee will deliver local news and current affairs content.

Bobby Hain, Director of Channels at STV, said: "STV is committed to delivering local content for viewers in Scotland and the award today of three additional TV licences will serve to complement our existing STV family of broadcast, online and mobile services.  Local TV is a long term commitment for STV and we look forward to working with our education partners in Aberdeen, Ayr and Dundee to deliver these new services."

The first of STV's city TV channels, STV Glasgow, launched in June 2014 and STV Edinburgh followed in January 2015.  During the first month on air the channels reached a combined audience of over one million viewers with an engaging mix of news, innovative formats and classic dramas from the STV archive.

STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh broadcast on Freeview channel 23, Sky channel 117 and Virgin Media channel 159 within their transmission areas. STV, STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh are available to watch live and on catch-up with the STV Player.
