SHANTA GOLD LIMITED FURTHER PHASE III RC DRILL RESULTS FROM THE CHUNYA DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IN SOUTHERN TANZANIA 22 September 2010 Further to the announcement of the start of detailed design work and construction of the New Luika Gold Mine at Chunya in southern Tanzania, Shanta Gold today released a second round of drilling results from the current drill programme including additional holes at the Luika South target and the drilling of the Bauhinia Creek prospect. The drill programme is continuing to test the extensions of the known prospects and new targets identified by field mapping and trenching during the 2010 field programme and continues to yield positive results. HIGHLIGHTS    ·     The best results achieved along the western extent of Bauhinia Creek are 3.72g/t over 14.0m, 14.07g/t over 6m, 4.21g/t over 15.0m, 22.58g/t over 16m, 3.5g/t over 13.0m and 16.44g/t over 10m.    ·     The drilling delineates a further 150m of strong mineralisation to the west.    ·     The Bauhinia Creek mineralisation remains open to the east, west and down dip and further drilling will target these extensions during the current programme.    ·     Along the eastern extent the veining has narrowed and grades are lower.    ·     The zone is a geologically distinctive and robust quartz vein filled brittle-ductile deformational feature containing multiple recognisable phases of veining and pyrite mineralisation.    ·     The best results from Luika South include 4.76g/t over 4.0m, 7.67g/t over 3.0m, 5.04g/t over 4.0m, 9.39g/t over 2.0m, 6.82g/t over 3.0m and 5.08g/t over 2.0m.    ·     The Luika South drilling has defined a narrow sub-vertical mineralised structure along a strike of 500m.    ·     The Luika South zone is located close to and overlaps with the south west extension of Luika and could be exploited from the same open pit. The ongoing Chunya Phase III RC drilling programme is aimed at evaluating the extensions of the known prospects that contain the project's gold resources and conducting first pass evaluation of new targets, all of which that have the potential to provide easily accessible near surface resources. Along with the recently released results,  these results confirm the western extension of the Bauhinia Creek mineralisation along a strike of approximately 150m, a further 150m along Luika to the southwest and 500m along Luika South to the west, a total of 800m of previously untested mineralisation. Further near-surface and higher grade production potential has been identified at Bauhinia Creek, which could contribute to a considerable stockpile of good grade ore in anticipation of the process commissioning at the New Luika Gold Mine, currently scheduled for Q4 of 2011.  Once the resource modelling has been completed and integrated into the New Luika Gold Mine gold production plan, it is expected to have a significant positive impact on the mine financial model and capital payback period. BAUHINIA CREEK The first phase of drilling conducted at Bauhinia Creek returned excellent results and ore body modelling suggested high grade mineralisation was open to the west and with narrower and lower grades to the east. The current drill holes generally confirmed this model. Bauhinia Creek contains robust widths and grades, and that there is a consistency in both grade and geological continuity of the zone along strike to the west and to a depth of between 75 and 100m below surface, with the zone open in all directions. The consistently developed wide mineralised quartz vein zone will not only enhance the mine's early production plan, but strongly indicates the potential of a future high grade underground operation The structure is located to the southwest and overlaps with the recently newly defined southwest extension of Luika. As such it is envisaged that both ore bodies could be exploited from a single open pit.
