RM's Chairman announces intention to retire

 

Following 17 years of excellent service, John Leighfield, 72, has informed the Board that he intends to retire in order to reduce his public commitments. The RM Board's Nomination Committee is now engaged in a comprehensive and thorough process to identify a suitable successor. This process will involve appropriate consultation with shareholders.

 

Terry Sweeney, CEO of RM commented "Since his appointment in 1994, John has been an outstanding chairman. He is a tremendous champion for all RM's stakeholders: our shareholders, our customers and our staff. His will be very big shoes to fill."

 

Biography

 

John Leighfield was appointed Chairman in 1994, having joined RM as a Non-Executive Director in 1993.  He led RM's flotation in 1994. Until April 1993 he was Executive Chairman of AT&T ISTEL having established ISTEL via a management buy-out and then arranged its acquisition by AT&T. ISTEL pioneered value added communications services and business continuity services in the UK.  He chaired Synstar plc after its buy out and led its IPO and subsequent acquisition by HP. John was chairman of Birmingham Midshires Building Society and led its demutualisation and acquisition by Halifax plc. He is Chairman of the Council and Pro-Chancellor of Warwick University. He is Past President of the Computer Software and Services Association and the Institute for the Management of Information Systems.
