Persimmon PLC (the 'Company')

Director's shareholding

The Company was informed today that on 23 September 1999, M J Allen, a
Director of the Company, and his wife sold 3,183 ordinary shares and 3,147
ordinary shares respectively at a price of 225p per share.  On the same day, M
J Allen and his wife both bought 3,088 ordinary shares at 225.5p per share
which were put into an ISA.

As a result of these transactions M J Allen (and his wife) are interested in a
total of 354,550 ordinary shares, 0.2 per cent. of the Company's issued share
capital.
