Directorate Changes

NewRiver Retail Limited (AIM and CISX: NRR), the UK REIT specialising in value-creating retail property investment and asset management, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Non Executive Directors.

Christopher Taylor, 51, and Kay Chaldecott, 49, will join the Board with effect from 31 March 2012.

Contemporaneous with the appointments, current Non Executive Directors Peter Tom CBE and Susie Farnon will stand down from the Board to pursue other business interests.

Both appointments bring significant commercial property experience to the Board.

Mr Taylor brings a wealth of investment and asset management experience having specialised in the acquisition, disposal and management of many prominent UK retail assets.

Mr Taylor is Chief Executive of Hermes Real Estate, one of the largest real estate managers in the UK, and responsible for the management of £5 billion of assets globally. He joined Hermes in 2010 from the Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), Australia's largest wholesale fund manager, where he was Head of European Property. Prior to QIC Mr Taylor was Head of European Property at HSBC Specialist Investments following a 17-year career at Prudential, the UK's largest institutional commercial property investor.  As Director of investment and asset management he was responsible for acquiring and managing Prudential's £6 billion UK retail portfolio which included major retail centres such as Bluewater, Manchester Arndale, Central Milton Keynes and Cribbs Causeway in Bristol.

Mrs Chaldecott has a long and distinguished career in the UK retail property sector. A chartered surveyor, Mrs Chaldecott enjoyed 27 years at Capital Shopping Centres Group PLC ("CSC"), one of the UK's largest shopping centre owners, where she became Managing Director and an Executive Board Director before stepping down in September 2011 to seek other business opportunities.

Having joined the Company as a graduate, Mrs Chaldecott progressed through a range of disciplines, latterly becoming Group Manager of the Southern portfolio then Property Director. Promoted to Managing Director in 2005, Mrs Chaldecott was responsible for the overall running of CSC's asset, property management and centre operations as well as overseeing shopping centre development and leasing. She is highly experienced in working with local authorities, retailers and tenants having managed all of CSC's £6.7 billion assets including those at Lakeside, Metrocentre, Watford, Bromley and Uxbridge.

David Lockhart, Chief Executive Officer, said:

"I am delighted to welcome Christopher and Kay to the Board of NewRiver. They both bring an invaluable range of skills and industry knowledge that will help to drive NewRiver forward. It is a mark of NewRiver's recent growth and progression that we are able to attract two leading industry figures to the Board and I look forward to working with them both.

"On behalf of the Board, I would also like to thank Peter and Susie for their strong support and contribution over the last three years and their invaluable role in helping to establish NewRiver as one of the UK's most active REITs and they leave with our best wishes."
