                               DIRECTORATE CHANGE



The Board of Kier Group plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil White
CBE as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 1 July 2006.


Mr. White, aged 56, was appointed to the Board of National Express Group in
January 1996 and became its Chief Executive in 1997, since when the business has
been transformed into one of the UK's largest transportation groups.  He is a
chartered accountant and has extensive experience of both listed and private
companies.  He is currently President of the Confederation of Passenger
Transport.


Peter Warry, Chairman, said:


"I am very much looking forward to welcoming Phil to the Board.  His breadth of
experience as CEO of an international business will contribute significantly to
the future growth of Kier Group plc."


Mr. White is a director of National Express Group plc, otherwise no information
in relation to Mr. White is required to be disclosed pursuant to Listing Rule
9.6.13R.


As at 15 June 2006, Mr. White had no beneficial interest in the share capital of
the Company.
