Ingenta PLC 21 September 2000 An analysts' briefing on the company's overall strategy and recent corporate developments will be held this morning at 9.00 at Founders Hall, Cloth Fair, EC1. Ingenta plc Trading update and contract wins with Macmillan and Heinemann Trading update When ingenta listed its shares on AIM in May this year it stated that, through becoming a public company and increasing its cash resources, the company would be primed to take advantage of the rapidly growing demand for its services. Since that time the company's growth has continued to accelerate and the Directors are pleased to report that trading for the period to September 30 2000 is in line with expectations. From a current total of some 60 publisher and society relationships covering online publishing and e-community services, notable new business won during the period includes contracts with Business Intelligence, Nature Publishing Group, OECD Publishing and Sage Group, one of the world's largest social sciences journal publishers with over 200 journal titles, bringing the total number of titles contracted to the site to over 3,000. In addition the company announces two further collaborations today, involving agreements worth over £2 million over three years. Details of these, both of which involve a combination of fees and transactional revenues, appear below. ingenta builds online 'Science Universe' for Macmillan Macmillan Publishers has selected ingenta to create a series of encyclopedia-based reference portals for scientists, researchers, and librarians. The project will be one of the largest of its kind in the world, offering universal access to highly valuable reference material covering a range of subject areas and targeting the information needs of professionals and students alike. As part of the contract, ingenta will also host a number of Macmillan's existing online reference works, including the world-renowned Grove Dictionaries of Art, Music and Opera. Ingenta will also provide specially developed Access Control System (ACS) software for unifying administrative control over each of its products through Macmillan's existing customer management systems. The services will be available on a number of commercial bases, including site licensing, hourly-based charging and a 'carnet'-style multiple session access. The content will also be available on a pay-per-view basis. The arrangements envisage further releases of up to three additional portals per year for the next five years. ingenta and Heinemann collaborate on e-learning portals for secondary school teachers and students ingenta today announced a partnership with Heinemann Educational, the UK's leading educational content publisher, to create e-learning portals for teachers and students in all UK secondary schools. These portals provide the first online access to Heinemann's textbook content, which until now has only been available in print. These portals will offer in-depth multimedia content on topics such as science, geography, history and maths as teacher support for Key Stage 2 and 3.
