Galliford PLC 23 May 2000 Galliford Selected as a £90 million Strategic Partner for Hyders Investment Programme Over the next five years, six strategic partners will be carrying out various engineering projects on behalf of Hyder to further improve Wales's water and sewerage infrastructure. With a total value of over £600m, Galliford PLC will handle £90m of capital improvements in North Wales. Hyder has extended its partnering approach to major works by giving the six companies responsibility for delivering whole sections of the investment programme instead of awarding numerous smaller contracts. Hyder's capital manager Calvin Snook said: 'Choosing six strategic partners to deliver whole areas of our investment programme will improve overall project management and produce further benefits through economies of scale and supply chain management.' 'We have let large engineering contracts for many years, but in the past they have tended to be for an individual project. Developing our partnering approach in this way, consolidating areas of activity will deliver best value to Hyder and our customers.' The partners were chosen for their proven track records in delivering water industry investment schemes, extensive experience in successful partnering projects and for their innovative approach and range of skills and resources. The work involves renewal of the sewage treatment works and construction of improvements to combined sewer overflows. George Marsh, Galliford Chief Executive said: 'We are delighted with the award which builds on our previous partnering experience with Hyder.'
