Eckoh secures three-year contract with an Executive Government Agency

 

 

Eckoh, the UK's largest provider of hosted speech recognition services, is pleased to announce the award of a three-year contract, valued at £0.3 million, with an Executive Government Agency. The contract is for the provision of a speech recognition solution that will allow authenticated users to register the identity and movement of livestock.

The service, due to go live in June 2010, will give farmers more choice in the ways they  contact the Agency and will help to improve the quality of disease control information as well as reducing administration costs.

 

This contract builds on Eckoh's long-standing relationship with the UK government and its departments, including the Ministry of Justice. In February 2006, Eckoh was appointed by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) to provide a round-the-clock speech recognition solution to enable poultry owners to register details of their birds on a Great Britain Poultry Register to effectively tackle an outbreak of avian flu. More recently, Eckoh launched the Swine Flu Information line in support of the Department of Health's information campaign. Additionally, as announced in July 2009, Eckoh won a five-year contract with a major Government Transport & Infrastructure organisation.
