Swallowfield announces that it was informed on 7 August 2001 that Mr James
Espey, Chairman; Ms Jennifer Bryant-Pearson, Non-Executive Director; and Mrs L
J Wardell - wife of Mr Tony Wardell (Group Managing Director) and in whose
shares he is deemed beneficially to be interested; each purchased 5,000 shares
in the Company at a price of 99 pence per share on 7 August 2001.

Mr Espey is now deemed to be beneficially interested in 45,000 ordinary shares
in the Company, Ms Bryant-Pearson is now deemed to be beneficially interested
in 25,000 ordinary shares in the Company and Mr Wardell is now deemed to be
beneficially interested in 1,082,651 ordinary shares in the Company.
