Change to Investment Strategy

Amlin PLC 29 November 1999 AMLIN PLC - CHANGE TO INVESTMENT STRATEGY Following a review of investment strategy, Amlin plc, the leading independent Lloyd's insurer, is changing the composition of its long-term investment portfolio. Approximately 50 percent of the portfolio will be held in stocks so as to track the FTSE 350 index and approximately 50 percent will be held in UK Treasury securities. In realigning its investments Amlin realised £60 million of its FTSE 100 stocks when the FTSE 100 index was 6561. In addition to its long term investment portfolio, which was valued at approximately £220 million at 16 November 1999, Amlin has funds of £36 million, which are held in deposits and other short dated securities which have been ear-marked for strategic purposes, including the purchase of capacity on its managed syndicates and possible share buy-backs. The Board of Amlin considers a more balanced investment portfolio to be appropriate given the Company's desire to support, over the long term, a growing insurance business.
