22 September 2010 ROLLS-ROYCE WINS $560 MILLION ORDER FROM LUFTHANSA AND SWISS Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has won an order worth $560m, at list prices, for Trent 700 engines to power eight Lufthansa and SWISS Airbus A330 aircraft. The order includes a TotalCare® long-term service agreement. The aircraft will enter service from 2012. Mark King, Rolls-Royce President - Civil Aerospace, said: "We are delighted that Lufthansa and SWISS continue to put their trust in our leading-edge Trent technology. The competitive TotalCare® support package we are able to offer will enable our customers to derive additional operational and performance benefits." Nico Buchholz, Executive Vice President Lufthansa Group Fleet Management, said: "Both airlines have had a good experience of the Trent 700's exceptional reliability and performance as well as the ability of TotalCare® to provide support which allows us to continually improve our efficiency." The Trent 700 is the only engine specifically designed for the Airbus A330 and over 1,000 are now in service or on firm order. The engine remains the market leader for the aircraft, capturing 75 per cent of orders over the last three years. The engine offers outstanding levels of performance while delivering the highest available thrust. Notes to Editors: 1. Annual underlying revenues were £10.1 billion in 2009, of which about half came from services revenues. The firm and announced order book stood at £58.4 billion at 30 June 2010, providing visibility of future levels of activity. 6. The relationship between Rolls-Royce and Lufthansa dates back more than 80 years to the days of the Rolls-Royce Eagle engine. Currently Lufthansa has more than 150 engines powering aircraft in its fleet. The N3 Engine Overhaul Services joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Lufthansa Technik continues this successful partnership. Opened in 2007 in Arnstadt, Germany, it services Rolls-Royce Trent engines that power the Airbus A330, A340 and A380 aircraft.
