Declining energy prices cheer U.S. consumers

Consumer sentiment in the U.S. has reached its highest level since January 2008, just before the recession started.
The preliminary reading of the University of Michigan-Thomson Reuters index rose to 77.8 from 76.4 last month with declining energy prices appearing to have offset a slowdown in the growth of new jobs.
