Cove Energy has revealed a successful conclusion to appraisal drilling offshore Mozambique with further success at Barquentine-4.
The wellis located approximately 30 km north of the Lagosta discovery well at the southern end of the Windjammer/Lagosta/Barquentine/Camarao gas complex in the Rovuma Basin Area 1 block.
Cove said 525 net feet (160 metres) of natural gas pay were encountered in Barquentine-4 delineation well which proves the northern extension of the WLBC gas complex.
This was the ninth successful well in Area 1 Rovuma offshore and concludes a highly successful WLBC appraisal drilling programme.
Chief executive John Craven said: "The appraisal drilling programme has concluded with another success at Barquentine-4 which is an important delineation of the northern part of the Prosperidade gas area.
"We have now bookended over 30 kms of proven gas fairway between Barquentine-4 in the north and Lagosta to the south.
"We can now look forward to new high impact exploration drilling in the northern section of the prolific Area 1 Rovuma Offshore block whilst at the same time continuing the well flow testing programme."
