The board of Oxus Gold is warning investors of a potential share fraud.
A company statement reads: "It has been brought to our attention that shareholders of several companies, including Oxus, have been contacted by individuals impersonating representatives of broking firms which are authorised and regulated by the FSA.
"We understand that persons are being offered shares in public companies at a discount price and that persons are then invited to send payment to a firm purporting to be a legitimate broking firm.
"If you are contacted by anyone purporting to be from an FSA authorised and regulated firm we urge you to be vigilant and not to rely on any of the details given to you without checking out the firm and individuals independently. Please see the Financial Services Authority website for further information about checking out firms at www.fsa.gov.uk/Pages/register/index.shtml"
