U. S. inflation worries as consumer prices rise

Inflation worries in the U.S. grew today with the announcement of a 0.5% increase in the consumer price index in December.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics pointed to a significant rise in energy costs, including household energy. There was also a slight increase in food prices.
Over the last year the consumer price index has risen 1.5%.
