Senior Management Changes

Marks and Spencer Group plc ('Marks & Spencer') announces new Director of Food,
         Director of International and other senior management changes


Marks & Spencer is pleased to announce a number of senior management changes to
position the Company for the next phase of its growth.

Steven Esom is to join Marks & Spencer as Director of Food.  He was most
recently Managing Director of Waitrose. He will join the business on 1 June
2007.

Carl Leaver is to join Marks & Spencer as Director of International Business.
He was previously CEO of De Vere Group plc. He will join the Company on 14 May
2007. Richard Wolff, the current Director of International Business, is to
retire after 36 years' service with the Company.

Steven and Carl will both join Marks & Spencer's Executive Committee.

Guy Farrant, currently Director of Food, is appointed Director of Retail and
Outlets. Anthony Thompson, the current Director of Retail is leaving the
Company.

Kate Bostock, Director of Womenswear and Girlswear takes on additional
responsibility for Lingerie.  Matt Hudson, Director of Lingerie will become
Director of Trading for Womenswear, Lingerie and Girlswear.

We are also pleased to announce three new Director roles within the Food
Division, which will report to the Director of Food.  The following are being
promoted to these roles: Dominic Morrey is appointed Commercial Director of
Market, Grocery & Events; Jim Waller is appointed Commercial Director of
Prepared & Hospitality and David Gregory is appointed Technical Director.

Following these changes, the responsibilities of the three Executive Directors
have been re-aligned.  Stuart Rose will continue to manage the trading functions
of the business and will add International to his direct reports. With the store
re-modernisation programme well underway, Ian Dyson will now be responsible for
Store Design and Development and Procurement, alongside his current
responsibilities for Finance, Property and IT. Steven Sharp remains responsible
for Marketing and the M&S Money relationship with HSBC and will also focus on
the next generation of store design.

Stuart Rose, Chief Executive said:  'I am delighted that Steven Esom and Carl
Leaver are joining M&S.  They will bring new skills and experience to the team.
I would like to congratulate Kate Bostock, Guy Farrant, Matt Hudson and the
Food Directors on their appointments.  I would also like to thank Anthony
Thompson and Richard Wolff for their contributions to the Company.
