             SurfControl Strengthens Board With Key Appointments

SurfControl, the Internet Filtering Company, (London: SRF, Nasdaq Europe:
SRFC) today announced the following key Board appointments, with immediate

Patrick Jolly, currently European General Manager and responsible for
Corporate Finance and UK legal matters, is appointed as President EMEA (Europe
Middle-East Asia) and World-Wide Operations outside USA where he will be
responsible for the development of SurfControl's business outside of the
Americas. Prior to joining SurfControl, he was a partner specialising in
Corporate Finance in Hammond Suddards Edge.

Simon Wilson, responsible for all matters relating to mergers and acquisitions
(M&A) world-wide, becomes EVP Global Finance and Corporate Development, with
continued responsibility for M&A.  Simon is ACAEW-qualified and will report to
Shelagh Rogan, CFO, in relation to the global finance responsibilities.
Before joining SurfControl, Simon was a partner in KPMG's US Corporate Finance
Practice, specialising in serving software and IT services companies.  Simon
advised clients, including SurfControl, on all aspects of domestic and
cross-border acquisitions, sales, divestitures, and financings.

Kevin Blakeman, President, American operations, is also appointed to the
Board.  Kevin joined the company in 1993 in the UK office. He moved to the US
in 1995, taking on the role of VP of Marketing. In August 1998, he was named
VP of Strategic Partners for the SurfControl division, where he was
responsible for working with key partners such as Microsoft, IBM, HP, and
Tivoli. He was named President of SurfControl USA in August 2000.
